Electrolyzer rectifiers operate for long periods at high current in an environment where water, heat and maintenance access matter. The busbar is part of the process boundary, not an isolated piece of copper.
Describe current, duty cycle and cooling at the same time
Capture rectifier current, ripple, overload duration, ambient temperature, airflow or liquid-cooling conditions and expected operating hours. This makes it possible to separate conductor loss from terminal and support losses.
Protect transitions in a humid service environment
Copper-to-aluminum interfaces need controlled orientation, finish, sealing and drainage. Insulation and supports must tolerate cleaning, condensation and thermal cycling without creating a hidden creepage or contact-resistance failure.
- Measure four-wire resistance and rise at maximum duty
- Inspect finish, seal edges and fastener preload after cycling
- Define dielectric and moisture tests independently from leak tests
Plan for replacement and inspection
Draw the removal path, lifting points, torque tools and inspection windows before freezing the bar. RFQs should include conductor material, cooling boundary, access space, fault duty, environment and records required for field maintenance.
