A microgrid inverter may see different current in grid-connected, islanded, black-start and overload states. Busbars and terminals must cover transfer conditions instead of relying on the nameplate rating alone.
Build a current matrix for every operating mode
List duration, RMS current, peak current, ambient temperature and cooling state for each mode. For bidirectional power flow, verify thermal and mechanical boundaries at both current directions across terminals, contactors and fuses.
Separate DC and AC busbar zones
DC links focus on ripple and commutation loops; AC outputs focus on phase spacing, grounding and service safety. When bars cross zones, define insulation, shielding and supports so a mechanical bracket does not become the weakest electrical gap.
- Verify rise and drop at the worst cooling condition
- Check corners, holes and mating-face flatness
- Inspect terminals, finish and insulation after transfer tests
Close the loop with supplier and field acceptance
Attach the operating matrix, single-line diagram, installation envelope, insulation requirement, environment and delivery cadence to the RFQ. Acceptance should retain torque, four-wire resistance, temperature rise, dielectric and key-point photographs.
